Intended patient population
Touchdose is crafted to facilitate patient care across diverse clinical environments. However, it does not offer support for pre-term neonates due to its reliance solely on the actual age derived from the patient's birth date as an input. Therefore, in scenarios where adjusting for prematurity is crucial as determined by the clinician, Touchdose may not be suitable.
The patient population supported by Touchdose may vary among clients, as it can only accommodate patients for whom the client has configured formulary content. For example, if a client's formulary only includes dosing information for children, adults will not be supported by that configuration of Touchdose. Each client has the capability to customise their own formulary.
Touchdose cannot be utilised for patients who do not meet the Touchdose validation criteria; for example, Touchdose does not cater to patients over 110 years old. More information regarding supported patient inputs can be found in the Summary of allowable parameter ranges.
Additionally, caution is advised in certain scenarios where Touchdose may not be suitable, especially when other patient parameters, not considered by Touchdose, are crucial, for example if the patient is pregnant. See the Contraindications and Limitations sections for more information. In such cases, clinicians must ensure they account for these additional conditions when using Touchdose.
